By pursuing the agenda of privatization and commercialisation of education and educational process, modernity has heightened the essential tensions among different forces of society. Traditional education and Cognitive knowledge have came under attack. There is also an unbalance between the relationship of science and religion, individualism and collectivism in the society that has created uneasiness and a moral void in the society. In fact, the modern capitalistic system has become so determining in nature. Society itself has started to transform into the market society.
It has thrown many challenges like social atomism, mistrust and increasing inequity in society. In these new circumstances, it seems that old theories of social relation and social structure propounded by people like Comte, Marx, Tonnies are inadequate.
This is to make the point that society has increasingly turned towards knowledge economies in which knowledge on the one hand and affectivity, on the other hand, is at crossroad. There is also an emerging consensus that the present crisis- latent and perceived, in educational subsystems can be harnessed by only reconfiguring the fundamentals of educational knowledge that consist both technological research and innovation and situated knowledge comprising indigenous way of knowing. Recently, there is a shift in the favor of the humanistic way of knowledge production and consumption too. These changes are the small part, but it would be the avant-garde in the coming days especially in the arena of socially and ecologically accountable research.
In the last, I would also like to discuss the implications of the new idioms of liberal traditions like equity, social justice, and inclusion in the post-ideological world that usually have different intersection points for people belonging from different class, ethnic, and national background.
